The Story
Dirty Rich is a 3-year-old dark bay or brown colt by Thousand Words out of the Distorted Humor mare Live and Love. Bred in Kentucky by Ralph Colville and purchased as a yearling for $35,000 at Keeneland September, this talented sprinter is owned by Michael and Stephanie McMillan and trained by the sharp California-based conditioner Peter Miller.
After an unplaced debut at Churchill Downs in June 2025, Dirty Rich quickly found his footing. He broke his maiden in gate-to-wire fashion at Del Mar, then showed versatility and guts on turf before returning to dirt—where he truly shines.
His signature performance came on December 12, 2025, at Oaklawn Park: a commanding gate-to-wire victory in the $150,000 Advent Stakes, covering 5½ furlongs in a sharp 1:04.11 under jockey Ramon Vazquez. He turned back the favorite and opened up 2½ lengths in the stretch.
Most recently, he finished a solid 3rd in the Renaissance Stakes on January 3, 2026, at Oaklawn—proving he belongs with the best 3-year-old sprinters in the country.

Breeder Spotlight
Kentucky Breeder
Ralph Colville is a respected Kentucky-based breeder whose small but selective program consistently produces runners with early speed and class. He bred Dirty Rich (by Thousand Words out of his own Distorted Humor mare Live and Love) on his farm and consigned the dark bay colt as a yearling at Keeneland September.
Colville's focus on quality bloodlines from proven sprint and miler families has paid off handsomely—Dirty Rich's gate-to-wire Advent Stakes victory is the latest highlight from a breeder who quietly supplies talent to some of racing's sharpest owners and trainers.
Jockey Spotlight
Jockey
Ramon Vazquez has quickly established himself as one of the top riders on the Oaklawn Park circuit and a go-to jockey for Peter Miller's barn. His sharp tactical sense and patience out of the gate have been a perfect match for Dirty Rich's front-running style.
Vazquez piloted Dirty Rich to his signature gate-to-wire Advent Stakes victory and kept the colt competitive with a strong third in the Renaissance Stakes. He retains the mount for the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct.
Trainer Spotlight
Leading Southern California Trainer
Peter Miller grew up at the racetrack, spending summers at Del Mar where his parents owned horses under Winning Ways Stable. After working for Hall of Fame trainer Charlie Whittingham and other top California conditioners, he launched his own barn and became one of the most consistent trainers on the West Coast.
A three-time Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner (Stormy Liberal twice, Belvoir Bay) and two-time Breeders' Cup Sprint winner (Roy H twice), Miller is renowned for developing fast, durable sprinters. With Dirty Rich, the veteran trainer has once again turned a $35,000 yearling purchase into a stakes winner—proving his gift for spotting and shaping gate-to-wire speed.
Owner Spotlight
Founder, KMAC Stables

A successful entrepreneur in firearms manufacturing (McMillan Firearms) and medical biologics & billing, he quickly built a competitive stable that already includes graded stakes winner Where's My Ring (G3 Gazelle Stakes).
McMillan's hands-on approach and sharp eye for talent have produced rapid success with Dirty Rich. His story appeals to both veteran fans and newcomers alike—racing as the ultimate blend of business acumen, patience, and excitement.
